Final Major Project

Overview

The Final Major Project is the culmination of a students study. All Level 6 (3rd year students) have the option to curate their own unique project which explores the various facets of visual communication within a highly intelectual and professional format.

Students can also opt to use the Studio Projects as the primary output for their inspiration/and-or actual proposal.

Archetypes In Flux

Background

Archetypes are all around us, in many cases they define communication, increase understanding and simplify meaning. One of the key communication industries ‘Advertising’ has used archetypes as a framework for idea and concept generation within almost every project. Our perception and understanding of key brands such as Nike and Apple is cemented via this sub-conscious understanding of the ‘Archetype’

Brief

Students were asked to choose/explore/create a ‘visual-story’ of their creative-voice, level 4 journey and projects via the muse of a chosen Brand Archetype. They had to consider the impact of the archetype on the book design, narrative, layout, text and motion based documentary.

Festival Friend

Overview

The festival concept is one that has gained an increased level of visibility in recent years due to the media methods available. The UK hosts a series of festivals every year that explore themes, target varying audiences and deal with an increased level of user demand.

Students were asked to create a festival app that amplified personal and interactive experiences. Their app although novel had to also accommodate basic/standerdised festival app features to ensure user patterns and experiences were met.

Floating Heads

Brief

The project brief tasks students to develop a narrative protagonist – the floating head – to illustrate and tell a series of tales inspired by a series of clearly identified Muses attached to domains (newly) associated with students’ own national stories: histories, epic poetry, song, dance, tragedy, etc. as appropriate. So-called traditional media, or digital media, or a synthesis of both are welcomed for two distinct outputs.
